This annual event tests students' knowledge and understanding of music history, theory, and literature, and is a highly respected competition in the music education community.

Magic Valley Music Teachers Association Announces 2024 Ensemble Team Selections

​McAllen, TX — The Magic Valley Music Teachers Association (MVMTA) is proud to announce the selection of the six Starr Music Academy students for the 2024 MVMTA Ensemble Teams. These talented young musicians have been chosen to represent the MVMTA at the prestigious Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) Conference in Waco. Rehearsals for the ensemble teams will commence next week as they prepare for their much-anticipated performance.
The selected students, ranging from elementary to high school levels, have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to their craft. They were chosen through a rigorous selection process that evaluated their technical proficiency, musicality, and teamwork abilities.
"We are incredibly proud of all the students who auditioned for the ensemble teams," said Corine Maldonado, Starr Music Academy director. "The level of talent and dedication we have seen is truly inspiring. We are confident that our ensembles will deliver outstanding performances at the TMTA Conference."
The TMTA Conference, scheduled to take place in Waco from June 13-16, is one of the most significant events in the Texas music education calendar. It provides a platform for student musicians from across the state to showcase their talents, participate in workshops, and engage with renowned music educators and performers.

The stage is set for an unforgettable evening of creativity and expression, scheduled to take place on May 16-18 from 5-8 pm at Brewhouse Cafe, 108 N Washington St. in Rio Grande City. Showcasing both seasoned performers and those stepping onto the stage for the first time, this event promises to be a celebration of diverse talents and artistic voices.
From soul-stirring melodies to captivating lyrics, the Jamming at the Brewhouse offers a platform for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to share their passion for music and poetry. Participants will bring their favorite pieces to perform in front of a supportive and appreciative audience.
