Registration Fee: The down payment registration fee is a percentage of the total cost of the course. The registration fee holds a place for you in the teaching schedule and is non-refundable unless no suitable class or lesson time is available.

Tuition: Studio membership includes your weekly slot in the teaching schedule, books and lesson materials, access to apps used both in-studio and at home, TMTA Student Affiliate membership and activities, and student recitals and performances. A down payment registration fee is required when registering. The remaining tuition balance may be paid in full at the first lesson; in two semester payments; or in monthly automatic payments due the first of each month. A $5 convenience fee will be added to monthly accounts not on automatic payment. A $30 late payment penalty will be added on to accounts due on the first of the month that have not been paid by the 15th of the month. If for any reason the student quits the course before completion, tuition must be paid through the end of the month in which the student terminates.

Course Information: Most beginning students will be grouped into classes of up to six students based on age and ability. Classes meet once a week for one hour. Private lessons are offered only for advanced students or for students for whom no appropriate class is available. Private lessons meet once a week for thirty minutes. Parents are welcome to observe lessons at any time.

Instruments: All students are required to have an appropriate instrument and accessories for home practice. Tuition does not include the cost of instrument rental, strings, or instrument supplies. Required instrument supplies and replacement strings will be issued when deemed necessary by the instructor. The cost of any required materials will be added to your bill when issued.

Studio Rules:
  • Please arrive no more than 3 minutes before your scheduled class time to avoid congestion in the studio and interrupting the class time of others. If you arrive more than 3 minutes before your scheduled class time please wait in your vehicle.
  • Students are required to bring all music and lesson materials to each class meeting.
  • Please do not bring food or drinks (other than bottled water) into the studio.

Missed Lessons: No tuition credits or makeup lessons are given. We are happy to provide alternate class times (if available) or send an interactive online lesson if a student must miss a class. Any lessons canceled by the instructor will be rescheduled.

Summer Lessons: All students who complete a school year of lessons and have the intention of continued study are expected to enroll in the summer session and/or summer camp. Music is not a skill which can be abandoned in May and resumed in September.  A student who chooses to "skip" summer lessons is in jeopardy of losing their place on the teaching schedule for the following school year.

Photo/Video Policy: Starr Music Academy reserves the right to feature photos and/or videos of its students on the studio website, Facebook page, and/or promotional items. Parents may opt their minor children out of this policy at any time by notifying the studio in writing.
