5/11/2021 0 Comments MVMTA Ensemble TeamsFive piano students of Mrs. Corine Maldonado were selected to the 2021 Magic Valley Music Teachers Association Ensemble Teams.
Arora Cantu, Emma Grace Escobar, Leslie Favela, Faith Garza, and Dawn Isidro passed a music theory test and an audition to be selected to one of the three MVMTA Ensemble Teams. Normally, the Ensemble Teams perform at the annual Texas Music Teachers' Association Convention, but due to COVID-19, their ensemble performance will be shared digitally. Congratulations to these talented students and their families!

5/4/2021 0 Comments TMTA Theory TestEleven Starr Music Academy students of Mrs. Corine Maldonado received medals from their performance on the Texas Music Teachers' Association Whitlock Theory Test. The purpose of the Theory Test is to evaluate students’ musical knowledge of and the ability to apply theory, aural, and musicianship concepts across a broad musical spectrum.
Congratulations to the following students and their families for a well-deserved achievement! Gold Medal: Jimena Trevino Silver Medal: Arizabella Alanis, James Gonzalez, Leila Martinez Bronze Medal: Katherine Hernandez Achievement Medal: Arora Cantu, Leslie Favela, Lyzzette Hinojosa, Mia Ramon, Kennedy Salinas Kinder Medal: Carolyn Salinas Twenty-three students of Corine Garcia Maldonado at Starr Music Academy were awarded medals for their performances at the Magic Valley Music Teachers' Association Festival this past March. Twenty-two of them advance to the state All Star Festival held by the Texas Music Teachers' Association in conjunction with their annual convention.
"What makes this years' Festival special is that all of the students have been continuing their music education throughout the pandemic completely online," states Mrs. Maldonado. "These dedicated students continued to practice daily and attend weekly Zoom lessons." The students' Festival performances were recorded and submitted online to be judged by an expert panel of music educators.
