As businesses around the US are being forced to shut down because of COVID-19, Starr Music Academy has moved its studio completely online. It is now offering piano, violin, voice, and guitar lessons online via live video chat. It has maintained a full teaching schedule while complying with the stay-at-home order.
Parents are grateful that they can maintain some sense of normalcy while continuing their music lessons online. One parent said, "Ms Corine is giving kids a sense of normalcy they need. My daughter feels so good after her lesson. Starr Music Academy is helping so many kids and parents." Starr Music Academy has also moved students' home practice online as well. Using the apps Tonara and Piano Maestro, students are logging their practice time and competing for the top of the leaderboard each week. Starr Music Academy is not stopping there. If necessary upcoming recitals, festivals, and summer classes and camps will be held online as well. Owner Corine Garcia Maldonado said, "The beautiful thing about music is its power to overcome adversity. Our students are a testament to the fact that music doesn't have to stop, even in trying times." While there are currently no openings for new students, interested families can join the waiting list at starrmusicacademy.com/apply
